Dear Jane,
I want to apologize for not having answered your very kind letter sooner but I have been away on a trip and just returned today.
London is wonderful. We did a lot of sightseeing: Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace and many others.
In three days I’m having an exam and have to work hard.
Hope to hear from you soon.
With love,

Reading is one of my hobbies and that’s why I try to use every spare minute to read. I like different kind of literature. I like Ukrainian and Russian, foreign and modern literature. I usually read different books: love stories, detective, poems or historical novels. There is a proverb “Choose an author as you choose a friend”. I am rather choosy in reading. My cherished dream is reading English and American writers in the original.
By the way, I like poetry. It is difficult to say who my favorite poet is. It might be Burns or Byron, Frost or Kipling. I know many poems by heart. I can recite them for you.

To a False Friend
Thomas Hood (1798-1845)
Our hands have met, but not our hearts:
Our hands will never meet again.
Friends if we have ever been,
Friends we cannot now remain;
I only know I loved you once
I only know I loved in vain;
Our hands have met, but not our hearts:
Our hands will never meet again.
